Whether you want to spend a weekend in the Upper Palatinate Forest or the Bavarian Forest for hiking, biking, visiting your family or friends or just for a stopover during your business trip: Your hosts Sonja and Michael Schieder want you to have the best memories on your stay – and of course, they want you to love coming back.

According to the guiding principle hospitality is lived out genuinely, sincerely and personally in the Landhotel Goldenes Kreuz in Saubersrieth near Moosbach.

Sonja and Michael Schieder acquired the relevant skills in high-quality and star-rated restaurants – but the passion and joy, with which they do now host their guests in their own country hotel is individual and noticeabel at all times.

Chef with passion:
Michael Schieder

Driven by his passion for cooking, Michael Schieder further developed his knowledge and skills in several gourmet kitchens of well-known hotels after his apprenticeship. The Kempinski Hotel Airport Munich as well as the Brenner’s Park Hotel in Baden-Baden are only two of the stations on his culinary journey, which finally led him back to his roots in the Upper Palatinate to Saubersrieth near Moosbach.

In our newly designed restaurant, you can now delight all your senses and enjoy a unique symphony of scents and tastes. Fresh balanced products of our region are presented in a big way. All products used in our cuisine are mainly from regional producers and from suppliers of top gastronomy.

Sonja Schieder

After her apprenticeship in the hotel/restaurant Seeschmied in Muschenried, she gained a lot of knowledge and skills in several well-known restaurants. Her way led her also to the Kempinski Hotel Airport Munich. After that she spent three years at the Parkhotel Egerner Höfe and Villa am See in Tegernsee, where she worked and learned in the star restaurants of famous chefs.

Before she joined her husband’s family business, her last stop was the Kastell restaurant at Burg Wernberg. As the hostess at the Landhotel Goldenes Kreuz she would like to give her guests a few unique hours of enjoyment, together with her husband in the kitchen.
