With 660 km it is the longest and most diverse trail of Germany. The Goldsteig takes you into the fascinating low mountain range landscapes of the Upper Palatinate Forest and the Bavarian Forest. From Marktredwitz in der Oberpfalz, the long-distance hiking trail initially runs in a southeasterly direction to Thanstein. There the Goldsteig divides into two variants – the southern route, which runs over the charming mountain ranges<\/em> of the front Bavarian Forest, and the northern route over the thousands of the Bavarian Forest<\/em> and through the Bavarian Forest National Park<\/strong> along the Bohemian border. The common end point or starting point in the opposite direction is the three-river city of Passau. Anyone who chooses the Goldsteig can get to know five nature parks<\/strong> and with them the different natural characters of the low mountain range landscape.
